Academic Report of the Department
The Commerce department has three faculty members. All the faculties are competent and adequate as per the total workload. The teachers guide the students right from the entry level especially for choosing the right subjects and explain the benefits of a particular programme, syllabus and career oriented problems. We give the guidance for the different types of career opportunities in different field such as C.A.-CPT, , Competitive exams – Banking, insurance, Railway, Staff selection services etc, and Also guide the students for the projects, study techniques and for further higher education and opportunities. We counsel the students in difficulties, in regular attendance in the college and about the finance.
1. Commerce Lab:
The department has Commerce lab with 15 computers with internet facility and also provided Tally ERP 9.0 training to the students. The department has a LCD projector which is used for teaching-learning process. The students are provided with the listening; reading as well as recording facility whereby they can improve their computer aided accounting practices such as Tally, project worketc.
2. Modern teaching methods practiced and use of ICT in teaching-learning:
Modern teaching method such as group discussion, seminars, PPT, Case Study, Mind Maps, Project Work and question answers are used in teaching learning process. Computers, internet and LED projector are also used for Power Point Presentation teaching in the concerned subject or topic such as costing, business communication, corporate law, auditing, Computer for business & Tally etc.
3. Academic activities
• The department runs a Certificate Course in Tally E.R.P.9.0. The present course is affiliated to Tally Enterprises Dule, Maharashtra since the academic year 2011-12 for the development of the Computerized Accounting skills in the students for any disciplines.
The department of Commerce runs Commerce Forum of the students, where students will diagnose their difficulties. The beneficiaries of this forum not only for the students of Senior college but also for the junior commerce students.
• The department organizes coaching for C.A.-CPT, M.B.A.-DMAT, Banking exams and conducted guest lectures by various renowned resource persons.
• The department organized 15 days workshop on “ Entrepreneur Development Programme” for the students of all disciplines to develop Entrepreural qualities within students.
• The department organized 10 days “Imitation Jewellary Making Programme” for the girl students of all disciplines to develop creativity and self employment qualities within students.
The department organizes one day “Financial Literacy” workshop of SEBI for students as well as for college staff. It provides the basic knowledge about capital market and helpful in investment decision making.
• The department organized a session of seminar for students on “Research and Education” by resource person Mr. Shasank Verma which clarified the concepts of research and educational system of U.K.
• The department organizes 45 days carrier guidance programme as “Summer Crash Course 2013” for students of college and other institutions. The programme was designed and completed a common syllabus which is useful to competitive exams such as Banking, Insurance, Staff Selection, Police Recruitment exams.
• The department organizes one day Edu-fair which clarify the basic knowledge about commerce curriculum to the students as well as to other persons of the society.
